NEW YORK, NEW YORK (August 28, 2023) – Marsh Law Firm and Trial Lawyers for Justice have jointly filed a lawsuit against former popstar Nick Carter on behalf of their client A.R. for child sexual abuse. This action follows two prior lawsuits filed against Carter on behalf of sexual abuse survivors Melissa Schuman and Shannon Ruth.
The case, A.R. v. Nickolas Carter was filed in District Court for Clark County Nevada (Las Vegas). The lawsuit states that Nick Carter sexually abused plaintiff, A.R., on multiple occasions in the early 2000s when she was just a teenage girl.
Prior to his recent and tragic death in November of 2022, Aaron Carter, made public statements in support of victims of his brother Nick Carter. The Plaintiff, A.R., and other victims of Nick Carter are now able to seek justice for their child sexual abuse because of dedicated efforts to reform to the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse in recent years.
“This case illustrates how much time, courage, and perseverance it takes for victims and survivors to come forward about child sexual abuse and seek justice,” said Margaret Mabie, an attorney with Marsh Law Firm. Despite numerous complaints about Carter’s past conduct towards young women, his victims continue to struggle to hold the Nick Cater publicly accountable for his harms against them.
“We hope that A.R. receives some measure of justice and that this lawsuit will pave the way for other survivors to hold their abusers to account,” Mabie said.
“Abusers can take notice that just because they avoided prison doesn’t mean they don’t have to answer to a jury for their actions” said John Kawai, an attorney with Trial Lawyers for Justice.
